Ireti Kingibe Biography: Early Life, Age, Education, Career, Personal Life

Ireti Kingibe, born on June 2, 1954 is a Nigerian politician and civil politician who is renowned and we'll respected in the Nigerian political scene. She is the younger sibling of Ajoke Muhammed who was married to Murtala Muhammad, a former Nigerian head of state.

In 2023, during the Nigerian Senate elections, Ireti Kingibe was elected member of the senate representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under the Labour Party (LP). 

Ireti Kingibe Early Life, Age and Education

Hajiya Ireti Heebah Kingibe, simply known as Ireti Kingibe, was born on June 2, 1954 in Kano State, Nigeria. Although not much is known about her family background, it is at least known that her mother has roots tracing back to Bonny and Asaba and her father, Abdulkadri Lanval, is of Yoruba and Fulani ancestry.

As of 2024, Ireti Kingibe is 70 years old. She also acquired secondary education at Emotan Preparatory School, Queen's College, Lagos and Washington Irving High School before going on to attend the University of Minnesota where she obtained a degree in Civil Engineering.

Civil Engineering

Ireti Kingibe started her career in 1978, working at Bradley Precast Concrete Inc. a Quality Control Engineer. The following year, she worked as an engineer with the Design unit of the Minnesota University of Transportation before moving back to Nigeria. 

Between 1982 and 1994, Ireti worked as a Planning Engineer with the New Nigeria Construct Company, a Consultant for Belsam Limited and a Regional Engineer for Lodigiani Nigeria Limited. 

Politics

Ireti Kingibe started her career as a politician in 1990 when she joined the defunct Social Democratic Party (SDP) as an Adviser to the party's National Chairman. 

By 2003, Ireti was already a member of the All Nigeria People's Party (ANPP) and was the senatorial candidate for the party in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.

In 2006, she defected to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and in 2014 she left to join the All Progressive Congress (APC). 

In 2022, Ireti Kingibe finally joined Labour Party (LP) and during the 2023 Nigerian elections, she was elected member of the senate representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). In August 2023, she was also named the Chairman of the Senate committee on women affairs of the 10th senate.

Ireti Kingibe is presently married to Baba Gana Kingibe. For now, nothing is known about their children.
