He was the former president of the Black First Land First party (October 2015 - November 2023) as well as a former Member of the National Assembly of South Africa (May 2014 - April 2015). 

In January 2024, Andile Mngxitama joined UMkhonto WeSizwe Party where he presently serves as a member of Parliament in the 7th Parliament.

Andile Mngxitama was born in 1982 in the North West Province of South Africa. Growing up, he was exposed to the political and social issues in South Africa and this both led him to pick an interest in politics and as well shaped his political career.

As of 2024, he is 42 years old. He also acquired a Master of Arts in Sociology from the University of Witwatersrand.  


Andile Mngxitama Career

Andile Mngxitama started his career as a politician in 2013 when he joined the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF). While representing the party, he was sworn in as a Member of the National Parliament in May 2014 and the following month, he was assigned to the Portfolio Committee on Rural Development and Land Reform.

After a series of ugly events in which Andile Mngxitama declined the nomination to serve on his party Central Command Team and accused the party leader and deputy leader of making shady deals with the African National Congress, he got expelled from the party and lost his parliamentary membership in line with the constitution.

Following his expulsion from the EFF in April 2015, Mngxitama went on to create the Black First Land First party six months later. He served as the president of the party up until November 2023.

As of 2024, Andile Mngxitama is a member of UMkhonto WeSizwe Party. He joined the party in January 2024 and claimed his previous party, Black First Land First, would not cease to exist and that it was only an electoral pact.
