Shaboozey Early Life, Age and Education

Collins Obinna Chibueze, popularly known as Shaboozey, was born on May 9, 1995, in Fairfax, Virginia, United States to Nigerian parents. While growing up in Woodbridge, Virginia, his early life was characterized by inspirations he got from watching music videos on 106 & Park.

As of 2024, Shaboozey is 29 years old. He attended a boarding school in Nigeria where he acquired formal education. He also attended Garfield High School in Virginia, United States.

Shaboozey is a musician, singer-songwriter, record producer and filmaker. His stage name, Shaboozey, was also gotten from the mispronunciations of his surname Chibueze.

Shaboozey started his career as a musician in 2014 with the release of a single titled “Jeff Gordon.” As a filmaker, he also founded a production company named V Picture Films that year. 

In 2017, Shaboozey released the hit singles “Starfoxx” and “Robert Plant.” His success with the two songs caught the attention of Republic Records and earned  him a record deal with them. He gained more prominence in 2018 following the release of “Start a Riot,” a song he did with Duckwrth which was used as a soundtrack in the movie “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.”

Other than some of his hit singles, Shaboozey has also released some classic albums over the years. They include Lady Wrangler (2018), Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die (2022), and Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going (2024). He also collaborated with popular American singer Beyonce in two songs off her “Cowboy Carter” album. 

As a music artist, Shaboozey is known for his style of music which is folk-pop produced with acoustic guitar. He is also influenced by music greats like Led Zeppelin, Johnny Cash, Roger Waters, Rolling Stones, Fela Kuti, Grateful Dead, the Backstreet Boys, Missy Elliott, to mention a few.
