Manoj Ahuja IAS, born on February 12, 1965 is a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer who has served loyally over the years in the Indian civil service. He is a former Special Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA), a former Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), and a former Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. 

In June 2024, Manoj Ahuja IAS was appointed as the Chief Secretary of Odisha, an appointment which saw him return to his home state where his journey all began. It has also marked a significant milestone in his illustrious career.

Manoj Ahuja IAS was born on February 12, 1965 in Odisha, India. He was raised in a decent home and this had an influence on his character as a person growing up. 

As of 2024, Manoj Ahuja IAS is 59 years old. He acquired formal education from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. 

He then went on to obtain an MBA from Punjab University in India and a Master's Degree in Public Administration (International Development) from Harvard University in the United States.

Odisha Cadre

Manoj Ahuja IAS started his career as an Indian Administrative Service officer in 1990 as part of the Odisha Cadre. He performed administrative duties in education, agriculture and rural development. 

During his time at Odisha Cadre, Manoj gained reputation among his peers for his ability to provide effective solutions to complex challenges.  

Special Director at LBSNAA

After his tenure at Odisha Cadre, Manoj Ahuja IAS was appointed as the Special Director at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA). 

The academy, which is a training institute for civil servants in India, saw a remarkable progress after the appointment of Manoj. This is because he provided new recruits with innovative training programs that helped prepare them for the challenges of public administration. 

Chairman at CBSE

Following his time at LBSNAA, Manoj Ahuja IAS was appointed as the Chairman of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). There, he implemented educational policies, oversaw the board of examinations, and ensured the smooth running of schools affiliated with the board. 

Manoj Ahuja IAS also helped digitized the operations of the CBSE and enhance the quality of education it provides by providing online career development workshops for both students and teachers.  

Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare

As Secretary of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Manoj Ahuja IAS contributed significantly to the Indian agricultural sector. He provided support for farmers and promoted sustainable agricultural practices. 

Chief Secretary of Odisha

On June 28, 2024 Manoj Ahuja IAS was appointed as the Chief Secretary of Odisha, his home state where his career Initially began. As the Chief Secretary, he will oversee the implementation of key government policies, drive economic development, and navigate future challenges all of which will contribute to the economic prosperity of the state.

Manoj Ahuja IAS is presently married to Arti Ahuja, another notable figure in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The couple have two children together.
