Tomasz Adamek was born on December 1, 1976, in Żywiec, Poland. By the age of 12 he had already started his journey to becoming a professional boxer.
Career
Tomasz Adamek started his career as a professional boxer on March 13, 1999 when he fought Israel Khumalo in Manchester, England. He won the match in the first round by TKO.
On May 21, 2005, he defeated Paul "Firepower" Briggs by majority decision to win the vacant WBC light-heavyweight title. He then defended the title against Thomas Ulrich in October that year, and defeated Paul Briggs in a rematch in 2006.
In December 2008, Tomasz Adamek won the IBF and vacant lineal cruiserweight titles after defeating reigning champion Steve Cunningham in a bout at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. In February 2009, he defended his title successfully against Johnathon Banks.
Tomasz Adamek eventually became a heavyweight champion in October 2009 after defeating Andrew Golota in Łódź, Poland to win the IBF "International" Heavyweight Title.
